Additional options:

  • Replacement of all electrolytic capacitors with Nichicon audio grade replacements  - add £40 to basic £145 price. (click here for explanation of why electrolytics might need replacing)

Creek Audio introduced the original 4040 in the early 1980's and it became a very successful challenger to NAD's 3020 and the more expensive A&R Cambridge A60. Unique in it's ability to actually fit on a bookshelf due to being only half the depth of traditional amplifiers it proved a popular low cost alternative. Since then there were two further revisions with alterations to circuit design. The 4040 is a gutsy and impressive performer and well worth hanging onto if you have one of these. Typical faults are noisy potentiometers and switches and failing electrolytics on well used examples.
